Our client is seeking to employ a qualified and experienced Financial Accountant. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and highly skilled team.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Manager.

Key Purpose:
The Financial Accountant (Insurance) contributes to the company’s goals by providing financial support aligned to the company’s strategy. This role entails an intense focus on the reconciliation of data – attention to detail and accuracy is critical.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

• Matric
• Prefer B. Com. degree with accounting major or similar
• Experience in MS GreatPlains (GP) and GRID preferable
• System accounting experience is an advantage
• Minimum 5 years post-graduation experience

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED

• Super-User/Advanced Microsoft Excel skills compulsory
• Deadline driven, team player that is reliable and dependable with a positive attitude
• Attention to detail with analytical insights.

DUTIES/ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Month-End Deliverables (within required deadlines)
- Preparation of bordereaux and accounting schedules
- Preparation of cashbook
- Posting of journals
- System reconciliations
- Bank reconciliations
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Underwriter reconciliations
- Preparation and distribution of management accounts
- Ensure accounting for the deliverables from other departments within finance:
? Credit Control
? Commissions
? Claim payments
- Attend to ad hoc queries
- Assist in budget and forecast cycles
- Attend to multiple internal and external audits throughout the year
- Assist in the identification of internal control weaknesses and suggest/implement improvements
- Provide financial analysis and insights in support of business decision making needs
