The Project & Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all project and engineering functions. This includes ensuring that all projects—both their own and those led by others—are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role also involves leading teams, managing resources, providing technical guidance, and maintaining oversight of departmental performance.
Primary Purpose:

Lead the daily operations of the Projects and Engineering departments.

Ensure safe execution of work, in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Deliver projects in line with defined scope, specifications, budget, and deadlines.

Provide leadership, performance feedback, training, and development for project and engineering staff.

Provide technical support, assist with audits, and contribute to promoting services to clients.
Key Responsibilities: Projects

Define technical and financial project scope based on contract and handover documents.

Chair and document regular project review meetings with stakeholders.
-
Ensure safety compliance across all projects and report weekly safety KPIs.

Collaborate with Finance to monitor budgets, manage costs, and ensure timely invoicing and cash flow forecasting.

Oversee documentation for site access, and ensure timely timesheet submissions.

Support commercial teams with project-related inputs for proposals.

Conduct technical risk assessments.

Ensure timely, scope-compliant, and cost-effective delivery of all projects.

Plan and manage internal and external resources for project execution.

Develop and maintain project schedules and progress tracking.

Manage vendor selection and contractor approvals.
-
Monitor and report on project performance using appropriate tools.

Perform risk management to reduce project-related risks.

Ensure proper project documentation and conduct post-project reviews, including lessons learned.
Engineering
-
Manage the Engineering team to ensure alignment with company priorities and deadlines.

Provide final approval on engineering drawings.

Review and approve standards, processes, scopes of work, and quality control plans.

Participate in non-conformance investigations and meetings as needed.

Ensure timely submission of engineering timesheets.
General Responsibilities

Ensure adherence to company policies and legal requirements.

Promote and follow all safety procedures and report any incidents or near misses.

Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for both departments.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).

Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) is preferred.

PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is advantageous.
Experience
-
5–10+ years of experience in engineering and project management.

Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
-
Strong understanding of project lifecycle, budgeting, risk management, and compliance.
-
Experience in heavy industrial or production environments is advantageous.
