A highly skilled and motivated Civil & Structural Engineer is needed to join a dynamic Technical and Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analysing, and overseeing the construction of structural and civil engineering projects while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project requirements. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Structural & Civil Design: Develop and review engineering designs for various projects, ensuring adherence to applicable standards, codes, and building regulations.
- Project Management: Oversee the execution of engineering projects from concept to completion, coordinating with architects, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct feasibility studies, site inspections, and structural assessments to ensure design integrity and efficiency.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs and construction methods meet applicable engineering codes, building regulations, and best practices.
- Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, and other professionals to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Problem Solving: Identify potential structural issues and propose innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
- Quality Assurance: Perform quality control checks on construction sites to ensure compliance with design specifications and structural integrity.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for project approvals and regulatory compliance.
- Innovation & Development: Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in engineering software, and construction methodologies.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in civil and structural engineering, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
Skills & Attributes:
- Proficiency in structural analysis/design and drawing/drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit).
- Extensive knowledge of construction materials, structural systems, and geotechnical considerations.
- Experience in concrete, steel, and civil designs.
- Familiarity with local and international engineering codes (SANS).
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
