Job Overview
Our client is seeking a results-driven Procurement Manager to lead their supply chain and purchasing operations within an engineering environment. This role is responsible for directing local and international sourcing, managing vendor performance, driving cost-optimization initiatives, and ensuring strict compliance with operational and preferential procurement goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Purchasing: Direct local and foreign procurement of materials, spare parts, and engineering services. Negotiate high-value commercial contracts, manage MRP/MPS systems, and execute JIT delivery principles.
Supplier & Performance Management: Conduct supplier audits, negotiate pricing, enforce SLAs, and maintain a minimum 92% S-OTIF target. Lead localized sourcing strategies aligned with B-BBEE and preferential procurement targets.
Leadership & Operations: Lead and develop the procurement team, maintain ERP data integrity, manage inventory controls, and collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Finance, Quality, Logistics).
Reporting & Compliance: Prepare monthly spend, risk, and KPI reports, ensuring adherence to internal signature mandates and authority frameworks.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field. A technical qualification in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is highly advantageous.
Experience: 5–8 years of procurement and supply chain management experience, preferably overseeing large portfolios (>R300M p.a.) within an engineering or technical sector.
Technical Skills: Proven expertise in local/foreign procurement, import/export processes, commercial contract negotiation, and B-BBEE execution.
Systems: Advanced MS Excel skills and proficiency in ERP platforms (e.g., MS Dynamics NAV / Business Central or SAP).
Competencies: Strong leadership, commercial/legal acumen, advanced negotiation, analytical problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
