Job Description

Available position: Financial Accountant

  2. Remuneration packages: +- R30,000.00 – R40,000.00 CTC, depending on level of experience, test answers etc.
  3. Requirements:
  1. Preferable to have experience in property
  2. At least 2 years’ experience in a finance department
  3. MDA Property Manager accounting software (preferable)
  4. BCom/BCompt
  5. Articles (preferable)
  1. Competencies:
    1. Review of trial balance
    2. Assist with variance reporting – numbers and commentary (actuals, budget)
    3. Review of bank reconciliations (oversight of cash books)
    4. Review of debtor and creditor age analysis
    5. Review of expense/cash book allocations (owner statements, general ledger)
    6. Preparation of monthly journal entries (e.g. prepayments, salary control account, depreciation and interest)
    7. Intercompany loan reconciliations and monthly matrix
    8. Calculation of interest on loans
    9. Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations (e.g. prepaid expenses)
    10. Maintenance of fixed asset registers and calculation of depreciation and tax allowances
    11. Assistance with monthly management reporting
    12. Assistance with quarterly board pack preparation
    13. Determination of accrued expenses, accrued income and straight lining of leases at year end
    14. Preparation of year end audit folders
    15. Liaise with auditors to finalise year end audit
    16. Tie in of externally drafted annual financial statements to trial balance (check mapping)
    17. Preparation of income tax computations (provisional and year end)
    18. Preparation of deferred tax computation at year end
    19. Involvement in budgeting/forecasting
    20. VAT reconciliations
    21. Ad hoc involvement in creditor reconciliations
    22. Other reconciliations, detailed analysis and reporting (ad hoc)
    23. Eagerness to improve processes and learn
    24. Efficient – utilise automated processes and systems over manual processes
    25. Work under pressure and meet deadlines
    26. Good attention to detail
    27. Problem solving
